Miami! We made it !!!

First, we would like to thank this anonymous hero for warding off yet another potentially devastating hurricane from Miami. If anyone knows his identity, please start a change.org petition to erect a statue in his honor, or at least make commemorative candles.

Sry we didn't KIT over summer like we promised. While we were all preparing for the WORST STORM IN HISTORY OMG, wracked by guilt that by somehow naming our last festival Borscht Diez we brought about Miami's demise, we were also at ease knowing that Miami stories were making their beautiful and meaningless march through the festival circuit, sharing our stories with the world. Here's where we popped up and will pop up this summer:

  • The #NOBROZONE was in full effect at the Maryland Film Festival, with Jillian Mayer's Measurements and Arrows both screening, as well as Growing Girl by Marnie Ellen representing Miami girls!

  • Robin Comisar's GREAT CHOICE continues to tear up the festival circuit, winning Best Short Film at both the Overlook Film Festival and Palm Springs International Shortsfest (which qualifies it for Oscar consideration!) while also drawing praise at local horror fest Popcorn Frights!

  • Kaiju Bunraku by Lucas Leyva and Jillian Mayer played G-FEST (Godzilla film fest lol) as well as Chicago Critics Film Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival to rave reviews!

  • Montclair Film Festival screened both Kaiju Bunraku and GREAT CHOICE!

  • Fantasia Film Festival (the top genre fest in North America) saw the premiere of Giancarlo Loffredo's [CRIES IN SPANISH], as well as Buzzcut by fellow South Florida buddy Jon Rhoads which screened at our inaugural West Kendall International Film Festival!

  • Fantastic Fest will screen not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Borscht shorts featuring Kaiju Bunraku, GREAT CHOICE, Manila Death Squad by Dean Marcial, and Mobiüs by Sam Kuhn (fresh off it's premiere at Cannes Critics Week)!

  • And finally the big one... Toronto International Film Festival will screen two Borscht shorts this weekend as well- Mobiüs and GREAT CHOICE! This is a big deal bro, it's in Canada.

Here's a lil sneaky of GREAT CHOICE:

Seriously though, while we appreciate all the well-intentioned messages of concern, the best thing you can do is contribute to relief efforts in parts of the Caribbean that we not as lucky as us. The Center for Disaster Philanthropy and UNICEF are great places to start.

Enjoy the last of the summer, stay dry, etc.
