AGUA VIVA NOW ONLINE AS VIMEO STAFF PICK!

Alexa Lim Haas's gorgeous water color animation premiered at Sundance and went on to win awards at SXSW and Dallas Film Fests.

You can watch the story of a lonely Chinese manicurist working at the Galeria Mall on Bird Road right now!

When a working cut played at Borscht Diez, local critics said "the film captures universal solitude with delicate empathy" and awarded Alexa a prize for Best Film Director.

We couldn't be prouder of Alexa Lim Haas, who has since created a powerful short for Planned Parenthood and animations for fellow Borschtian Terence Nance's hit HBO show Random Acts of Flyness. Next up, Agua Viva: The Feature

More good news!

Earlier this week, the Knight Foundation announced $37 million in support for the arts in Miami. We were lucky enough to be one of the organizations supported, alongside cultural institutions like museums, performing art centers, the symphony, and the ballet. There was an audible gasp from the audience when our award was announced, like, how did they crash this party?

We want to sincerely thank The Knight Foundation for being the first to believe in us, and by extension, a Miami Cinema. They took a big risk by supporting us initially, and have continued to be the dream partners that allow us to make uncompromising work in and of our city. Even though it looks like we are rich now, the support is specifically to create new programs and initiatives over many years, and we will continue to maintain our scrappy spirit (sorry to disappoint everyone already hitting us up for money online).
Make no mistake, this support is not a reward but a challenge to dig deeper to find new voices and tell our stories at new heights. Humbled by this new round of investment in our community, and to be in the company of the legacy institutions that laid the groundwork for us. Additional gratitude to Alberto Ibarguen, Dennis Scholl, Victoria Rodgers, and all the other Knight maniacs who think local film deserves a seat at the grown-up table.
