The first feature film by the Borscht Corporation is finally revealed:

Omniboat
A Fast Boat Fantasia

It began, like most things with us, as a joke.

Specifically, a poorly-made satirical PDF pitch packet, designed to convince would-be investors that buying us a speedboat was a better financial, artistic, and existential decision than investing in an independent film.

Somehow, it worked.

As the PDF made the rounds, the joke quickly got out of hand, and we found ourselves in Hollywood sitting across from fancy executives and producers, explaining with the utmost seriousness how the only logical next step in our evolution as a group of filmmakers was for them to buy us a speedboat apropros of nothing.

And so, we became the proud parents of a 1998 Cigarette Boat named Lay'N Pipe.

Then we gathered some of their favorite filmmakers, most of whom we had worked with on Borscht Shorts, and all of whom like going really fast on the water, and invited them to make a movie on the boat.
Together, we collaboratively created the saga of Lay'N Pipe, a 48 foot cigarette speedboat, from its conception through the end of human civilization.

After years of production we are proud to announce that we are finally ready to share our film with the world, starting with the world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Here are the official details:

This is our first official release about the project since we gave Powerboating in Paradise magazine the exclusive scoop when we started filming, but if you want to keep up to date you can follow the boat movie instagram, twitter, or facebook.
This movie was truly a gargantuan labor of love and wouldn't have been possible with the support of our friends, our community, and our supporters- specifically the Knight Foundation who believed in us from the start.

Our goal for Omniboat was to bring together top traditional 'industry' talent with locals to put together a movie unlike anything done before. The first Major Motion Picture created from the ground-up in Miami, combining our art house roots with a more commercial sensibility to continue to share our unique Miami stories with the world.

Even though the movie is already very highly anticipated, the journey is just beginning. We are so grateful for the help we received from the hundreds of people who did what they could to help, and we invite you to come along for the rest of this wild ride with us.
